Glad to be Back!

It was awesome to see everyone at the first meeting of the year! Keep coming, and keep bringing in new members--let's fill up every empty seat!

Thanks to Mr. Barnum for bringing the devotion--Galatians 2:15-21.

"...we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by
but by faith in Jesus Christ..."

Getting to heaven is NOT about what we do. It's about what God has already done in Jesus. Our only job is to believe in Jesus. That's it! But, then is it okay to keep on sinning? NO! If you really believe and really understand that Christ died for you--you will want to live your life for Him.

Don't forget--officer elections are next week! Be in prayer about who you want leading our group this year!

Also--those of you that are doing devotions in the coming weeks--check out:

I Can Do All Things . . .

Eli and Bo brought the devotion today--thanks, guys!! And Bo provided breakfast--double props to you!

Philippians 4:4-9, 13

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable--if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise--dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. . . . I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me."

We are constantly bombarded with negative thoughts--when we look in the mirror, when we lay down to sleep at night, and especially when we try to do something great. In our heads we hear, "I'm not good enough," "I'm so ugly," "Why can't I have what he has?", "You don't have what it takes," "Why do you even try?" So, what do we do when these thoughts arise??

First, recognize that those thoughts are not from God. These thoughts are those brought into our heads by the enemy. But it is up to you what happens to them. You can dwell on them, beat yourself up, and agree that what he says of you is true. OR--you can dwell on "whatever is true, honorable, just, lovely, commendable, morally excellent, or praiseworthy." If a thought comes into your head, first run it by God's standard of thought. If it doesn't pass the test (and all those negative thoughts won't), then get it out of your head and replace it with God says about you--YOU ARE LOVED.

"As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
(John 13:34)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only Son, that whoever would believe in Him should not
die, but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
